Under the influence of China's sufficient supply of clean energy products, the global levelized cost of electricity for clean energy technology is expected to continue to decline by 2035, with a decline of up to 22% to 49%.
In 2025, the cost of clean energy technologies represented by wind power, photovoltaic, and battery technologies is expected to further drop by 2% to 11%.
In 2024, the levelized cost of electricity for battery energy storage projects worldwide will drop by about 1/3 year-on-year, reaching US$104/MWh. At a time when the growth rate of demand for electric vehicles has slowed down, the supply of battery energy storage has increased significantly, accelerating cost reductions. At the same time, the cost of global fixed-tilt photovoltaic projects will also drop by about 21% in 2024, and module prices will fall below the cost price, and are still on a downward path.
The International Energy Agency also pointed out in its "World Energy Outlook" report that clean energy is being connected to the energy system at an unprecedented speed. In 2023, more than 560 gigawatts of new renewable energy installed capacity will be added globally, and the annual new investment in clean energy projects will also remain at around 2 trillion US dollars, which has basically reached twice the investment in new oil, gas and coal supply projects.
Cost reduction of clean energy technology is a general trend. The green energy technology exported by China is affordable.
